About PTA Council
The District 27 PTA Council was created as an entity to help ensure cooperation and unity among the three school PTAs of District 27 (Hickory Point PTA, Shabonee PTA, and Wood Oaks PTA). The PTA Council provides district-wide programming for students, families, and staff. PTA Council meets monthly with the three school PTAs, school principals, and District 27 District Office staff, including the Superintendent.

Staff appreciation during professional development and annual appreciation days
Fundraising allows for the annual awarding of the Rohrabaugh Scholarship to deserving District 27 graduates from Glenbrook North High School. Council has also helped fund:
- 8th grade graduation party
- GBN Grad Night
- Gifts for district retirees
- Classroom standing desks
- Smartboards
For the 2024-2025 school year, the PTA Council has committed to helping District 27 purchase and install AV equipment for the gyms/flex space at Hickory Point, Shabonee, and Wood Oaks schools to improve experiences for the students, staff, and community that use these spaces.
Election Information
The PTA Council is looking for two dedicated candidates to lead as President and Secretary. Are you committed to fostering a thriving school community and enriching the educational experience of our children? Join us in supporting our students, parents, and educators. We invite you to consider stepping forward or nominating someone you trust. See the responsibilities of each position below. President
- Presides at monthly PTA Council meetings with PTA Council Board, District 27 Administration, school principals, and school PTAs.
- Works with other PTA leaders to connect families, school and community to support student success.
- Serves as the official contact, communicator and representative of the PTA Council.
- Oversee management of district-wide functions including the hot lunch program, PTA membership, and the District 27 directory.
- Organizes and assembles Council committee and recruits volunteers.
- Support the Rohrabaugh Foundation scholarship, including overseeing fundraising efforts with the annual District 27 5K Race, and granting scholarships to deserving District 27 graduates of GBN.
- Oversee other Council fundraising efforts including Club 27.
- Work with District 27 Administration and school PTA representatives to identify PTA gifts to the district.
- Organize end of the year brunch at the May PTA council meeting.
- Designated as authorized signer for PTA checks, and contracts.
- Work with Treasurer, Vice President and Secretary to develop and approve annual PTA Council budget.
- Two year term.
Secretary
- Responsible for sending monthly PTA Council meeting invitations.
- Takes minutes at monthly Council meetings.
- Co-signs formal papers with President, authorizations for payment, resolutions and formal letters.
- Maintains and preserves PTA Council records and important documents.
- Responsible for keeping bylaws up to date and posted according to ILPTA guidelines.
- Responsible for crucial State-required Administrative filings: Change of registered Agent, Notification, filing of Annual Report, creation of the Executive Board List for annual tax report and others as is required.
- Trains incoming Secretary.
- Two year term.
