Parent Message - July 24, 2020

Dear District 27 Parents,

As we move into the last month before school begins, we want to provide you with information about quarantining should you travel to a state or other location with a surge of COVID-19 cases. Guidance from the Cook County Department of Public Health (CCDPH) recommends self-quarantine for 14 days after visiting - for more than 24 hours - a state with a high incidence of COVID infection. We are asking all parents to abide by this guidance. Therefore, if you have or plan to travel to one or more of these locations, please note that 14 days prior to our first day of student attendance is August 5. Here is the link to the high incidence list of states. It is updated each Tuesday. CCDPH Travel Guidance.

We are exercising an abundance of caution for all students and staff of District 27. Thank you for your understanding.

As you prepare for the reopening of school, we are providing you some information regarding your internet bandwidth. The District recommends having 20mbps of upload bandwidth and 5mbps of download bandwidth available per student in your household, plus any other remote needs you may have to use in the home. We ask that you call your Internet Service Provider for specific information.

We continue to update our FAQ section of the website as we are able to provide definitive answers to the questions that you have submitted. We ask that you please review the responses that have been posted thus far, and continue to check the site regularly for updates. If you have questions that would help others to better understand the start of the school year, we ask that you submit them on the Parent Question Form rather than email the principal directly. In that way, our principals can stay focused on the many tasks that need to be completed in preparation for the opening of school.

Thank you for taking the time to complete the Student Attendance Confirmation form. We will use this data to finalize the student schedules. Our expectation is to have the schedules ready for distribution by August 1st or shortly thereafter.

Please continue to refer to the 2020-2021 School Year tab on the District website for new and evolving information.  Thank you, again, for your support during this unprecedented time.

Respectfully,

David J. Kroeze, PhD
