Student Safety & Social Media Trend Awareness

It has come to our attention that students have been bringing NeeDoh squishy toys to school. We ask that these toys and similar items be kept out of the school environment, as they can be distracting in the classroom and pose safety concerns. For students who benefit from a fidget or squeeze tool to improve focus and attention, our teachers can provide safer alternatives that carry fewer risks. Recent social media trends show children breaking these toys open, ingesting their contents, or even placing them in the microwave. These actions can lead to serious injury. We also encourage families to monitor their child’s internet and smartphone use, to use parental controls, and to follow age-based guidelines for all social media platforms (age 13+). Visit our Technology Resources for Parents webpage and click the “Internet Safety and At Home Device Tips” tab for more information, including parent control guides and family technology planners.
