Our hearts are heavy as news continues to emerge out of the Ulvade, Texas community. We know yours are, too. As parents and as educators, it is difficult to process such a tragedy and we extend our deepest condolences to the students, staff and families of Robb Elementary School.
Our school social workers and psychologists are always available for students in need of support. In addition, the National Association of School Psychologists offers tips for parents and teachers when talking to children about such crises.
In our buildings, we are committed to maintaining a normal routine for our students as they celebrate the end of their school year. Please be assured that the safety of our students and staff is at the very forefront of all operations. Safety is and always will be our top priority. The District 27 Emergency Preparedness Plan (EPP) is in place and our District is highly vigilant in training for emergencies. Our EPP leadership team is dedicated to reviewing such tragedies across the nation to identify areas in which we can strengthen and improve our own processes. We continue to encourage vigilance when it comes to monitoring school entrances and visitors, especially as we are hosting our year-end celebrations.
Thank you for your partnership.
