Dear District 27 Community,
Thank you for your patience as the District continues to receive and review updated COVID-19 guidance from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), and Cook County Department of Public Health (CCDPH) to determine how it can be readily implemented in our schools.
Our District continues to follow all local and state guidance as it has kept our students and staff safe throughout the course of the pandemic.
The IDPH and CCDPH announced this week that they are in alignment with the US Centers for Disease Control recommendation of universal indoor masking in all K-12 schools. Therefore, District 27 policy will be updated to reflect this guidance. The District will require universal masking for all staff, students, and visitors, regardless of vaccination status until further notice.
Our leadership team is working diligently to finalize our District safety protocols for the 2021-22 school year. However, we are still awaiting clarification on many topics, including quarantine requirements, from our local and state health departments. Additionally, we are investigating a weekly, voluntary SHIELD Illinois (saliva) testing program for our students and staff.
High-quality instruction and school safety are our top priorities as we plan for the start of the school year. We will be sure to share our detailed safety protocols as soon as possible.
