I want to take this opportunity to wish all of our District 27 families a wonderful holiday season and Happy New Year! Your partnership and support has been very much appreciated as we look forward to this next chapter of the school year.
Safety Protocols and SHIELD Testing Availability
We have received several questions regarding school safety protocols now that more of our students are becoming vaccinated. I want to let you know that we have not received any updated guidance from the Illinois Department of Public Health and Illinois State Board of Education as of yet, but we are hopeful that we may receive such guidance after Winter Break. We will be sure to keep you updated as more information becomes available.
In the meantime, I want to share the good news that SHIELD is allowing us to expand our in-school testing program to account for vaccinated individuals. Any parent who wishes to enroll or keep their child enrolled in SHIELD testing should complete our new consent form by Friday, January 7, regardless of vaccination status. Please complete this consent form even if your child has already registered/been tested in weeks past. We hope to be able to include all vaccinated individuals who wish to be tested by mid-January. As a reminder, all Wood Oaks athletes must either be fully vaccinated or SHIELD-tested in order to participate in school athletics. Thank you for helping us ensure that our records are up to date.
Have a happy and safe Winter Break!
John Deiter, Ph.D.
