Parent Message: Administrative Appointment - Wood Oaks Principal
Dear Parents,

Northbrook District 27 is pleased to announce that Cari Beake was appointed as the new principal of Wood Oaks Junior High School. Ms. Beake is currently Assistant Principal at Wood Oaks and will succeed Dr. Rob McElligott who was appointed Director of Human Resources in District 27.

Ms. Beake is a veteran District 27 educator and has a very positive and trusted history of leadership in the district. She takes great pride in finding unique ways in which to recognize the wonderful things our students are doing and find better ways to support them both academically and socially emotionally. One of her top priorities is to ensure that all students feel that they belong and are supported at Wood Oaks.

The appointment will be officially approved at the Board of Education Regular Business Meeting April 7.

Ms. Beake began her career as a middle school and high school science teacher in Arizona, moving to Northbrook District 27 as a Wood Oaks science teacher in 1996. In 2006, she was appointed assistant principal. As assistant principal, she was responsible for developing ongoing professional development, creating and implementing the PBIS program, coordinating standardized testing and assisting and supporting curriculum development, among other duties.

Her skills and experience will help with a smooth transfer of leadership at Wood Oaks. Ms. Beake has a bachelor’s from Arizona State University, a master’s in Curriculum, Instruction and Administration from DePaul University. She is also a National Board Certified Teacher.

Please join me in congratulating Ms. Beake!

Sincerely,

Dr. John Deiter
