Northbrook School District 27 is pleased to announce that we have selected a candidate to serve as the Director of Special Education. Ms. Heather Miehl will assume the role on July 1, 2022, succeeding Ms. Julie Revello who is set to retire this summer.
Ms. Miehl has a long-standing professional history with our district, having most recently served as the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services for the Northwest Suburban Special Education Organization (NSSEO). She takes great pride in collaborating with fellow educators on behalf of students. She has vast experience as both a special education teacher and administrator.
The appointment will be officially approved at the Board of Education Regular Business Meeting on April 21.
Ms. Miehl spent 9 years in Northbrook School District 28, first as a special education teacher before being named Assistant Principal of Student Services and subsequently Director of Student Services. She then spent 6 years as Director of Programs and Support Services at the Northern Suburban Special Education District (NSSED/TrueNorth) and 4 years in the Assistant Superintendent role at NSSEO. She served as an adjunct professor at Loyola University in Chicago from 2015-2017.
Her advanced knowledge and leadership skills will further our district’s unwavering commitment to staff development and student success.
We look forward to welcoming Ms. Miehl!
