D27 Voters Approve Referendum to Enhance Facilities, Safety & Learning

Dear District 27 Families,

Thank you! Last night, voters in our community approved a consensus referendum that will allow us to sustainably address our facility needs, make our schools even safer, and improve learning environments for all students.

According to preliminary results, the referendum passed by a 26% margin. While some provisional and mail-in ballots remain to be counted, we do not expect the outcome to change.

This is a significant step forward for our schools. The community-driven plan will establish a debt service extension base (DSEB) of $2.655 million, ensuring we can address current and future facility needs in a sustainable, responsible way. It will make our schools even safer by upgrading infrastructure across the district and ensure that every student learns in an environment that supports high achievement.

It is truly rewarding to see our community members come together to invest in our students and our schools! In the coming months, we will develop detailed plans and timelines for these projects and will continue engaging the community as we move forward.

On behalf of the District 27 administration and Board of Education, thank you for your trust, support, and commitment to educational excellence.

Sincerely,

John Deiter, Ph.D.
Superintendent of Schools
