Instruction

Curriculum Content

The curriculum shall contain instruction on subjects required by State statute or regulation. These are delineated in the District 27 Administrative Procedure. In kindergarten through grade 8, subjects include: language arts, reading, science, mathematics, social studies, art, music, and physical education.

Additional topics required by State statute shall be included in the instructional program.

As required by State law, the District shall include, as part of its health and wellness curriculum, instruction in family life, sex education, sexually transmitted diseases, and child sexual abuse. Parents/guardians will be given at least five days’ notice prior to instruction with sexual content and will have the option to withdraw their child(ren) from participating by submitting a written objection to the District.
