Instructional Delivery Plan for Students Isolating Due to COVID

Below are the plans offered by grade level for students who are isolating due to COVID and feel well enough to participate remotely.

Grades K-2:

Any materials appropriate for a student to complete at home will be provided online through Canvas and/or for pickup in the school office. Work identified will focus on math and literacy. Some daily, instructional check-in time for math and literacy will be provided by a designated staff member.

Grades 3-5:

Any materials appropriate for a student to complete at home will be provided online through Canvas and/or for pickup in the school office. Student assignments will focus primarily on math and literacy. Social studies and science materials will only be shared if they are reasonably feasible and meaningful to complete independently. Some daily, instructional check-in time for math and literacy will be provided by a designated staff member.

Grades 6-8:

Student participation via livestreaming* will be determined by the teacher each class period based on feasibility of the activities. Any materials students should complete will be provided online through Canvas and/or for pickup in the school office. Teachers will work with students to help them catch up upon returning to school.

*Livestreaming
Livestreaming is defined as transmitting classroom instruction via Zoom for students to be able to view only. Therefore, students will be able to do this only for lessons where material is projected to the class on a screen or flat panel and the teacher remains close to the computer running Zoom. We recognize many lessons are not conducive to livestreaming and know it is important for our teachers to use the best instructional methods for the students who are present in the physical classroom.

Livestreaming will only be used for students who are isolating due to COVID safety protocols. This opportunity is not available to students who are home due to illness (other than COVID) or on a vacation/out of town. Students who are home due to extenuating circumstances (ex. recovering from surgery) will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
