ADOPT A SUPPORT STAFF MEMBER

During Teacher Appreciation Week, May 6-10, our classroom teachers are celebrated by our Room Parents. But what about everyone else? Hickory Point relies on our special teachers, instructional assistants, custodians, secretaries, therapists, principals and everyone in between! Let's ensure everyone feels appreciated! Please sign up as many staff members as you wish. Throughout Teacher Appreciation Week, a cart will be available in the school's front vestibule. Feel free to drop off treats, snacks, small gifts, thank you notes, or anything you would like to contribute. You can leave items daily, every other day, or make one larger drop at the end, whatever suits you best. Need ideas? Contact Abby for a copy of "My Favorite Things" sheet completed by each staff member.

YEARBOOK DEADLINES

Yearbook deadlines have been extended! Purchase your yearbook by TODAY, 4/19! Each purchase includes 2 customizable pages for your student. Customize these pages by Monday, 4/22 using TreeRing. Simply log in and click on the customize option with your student's name.

SECOND GRADE UPDATES

· Shabonee Spring Family Night

All 2nd Graders and their families are invited to join Shabonee's End of Year Family Night on Friday, May 17th from 5pm - 7pm. There will be live music from Spice City DJ, food for sale from Josh's Hot Dogs and Sweet Ride, a Home Run Derby with Hi-Five Sports, Shabonee Spiritwear for Sale and a very special School Wide Scavenger Hunt with prizes!! It will be a great opportunity for your future 3rd grader to check out their new school.

Attention Hickory Point parents of 2nd graders!! So far, school supplies have been provided for your student by the district. Starting in 3rd grade, there is a list of required school supplies specific to each grade. The PTA has made this process so easy for you. Order school supplies for your student today and save yourself the hassle of trying to find everything before the next school year starts. Plus, kits from EPI cost about 20% less than buying everything separately. Your student’s supplies will be waiting on their desk on the first day of school - how easy is that?! Don’t forget to order for the grade they will start in August (3rd). You can shop packs here using our school code: SHA082 (3 letters/3 numbers). Reach out to Kate with questions.

TASTY TUESDAY

Skip the dishes and hit the drive thru! Mention "Hickory Point" when you dine in, drive thru or carry out from Culver's all day on 4/23! The PTA will receive a 25% contribution. 

TRASHLESS TUESDAY

To celebrate Earth Day, our environmental committee is striving for a zero waste lunch on 4/23. If you’d like to participate, please only send reusable containers in your child’s lunch that day.

SQUEEZABLE SNACK POUCH RECYCLING PROGRAM

Help us reduce waste and support Hickory Point with the GoGo squeeZ Recycling Program! Simply drop off any brand of flexible plastic snack pouches and caps in our collection bin located in the front vestibule. Once we collect 10 pounds, Terracycle will recycle them and earn points for cash for our school. Let's make eco-friendly choices and support our school together!

  Please join us for the Hickory Point End of Year Family Night! We'll have everyone's favorite Kona Ice (provided by the PTA), music and games with Spice City DJ, food for sale from Josh's Hot Dogs, sports with Hi-Five Sports and so much more! This event is open to all current students and their families, as well next year's incoming Kindergarteners.

Morning Supervisors

Please consider contributing 30 minutes in the morning to assist in welcoming students as the staff holds their monthly morning meeting. If you're available, your help would be greatly appreciated.

Library Volunteering

Come lend a hand in the school library on Fridays, where you can assist with shelving the circulation after a busy week.

Hot Lunch Volunteering

Please remember the following guidelines for hot lunch volunteering:

• Check in at the school office 5 minutes before your shift.
• Only the designated adult volunteer from the sign-up list will be allowed entry (please note that younger siblings cannot accompany you during this time.)
• Photography is prohibited within the school premises.
• Check in with the Lunch Solutions representative. Your responsibilities will include organizing and serving lunches. It's important to note that we are not responsible for supervising the lunchroom; the school will handle that.
• During your shift, please remain at the hot lunch service tables and refrain from joining students at their lunch tables. Once your shift concludes, promptly check out at the office and remember to take your ID.

PTA MEETINGS 

Be part of our in-person PTA meeting. Mark your calendar for the last meeting on 5/3 at 10 am. Simply check in at the front office, and they’ll guide you to the meeting location for the day.
